Enjoyable hiking holidays in the Tauferer Ahrntal (Valle Aurina)

Hotel Mair in Caminata – just minutes away from Campo Tures

80 spectacular mountains in the nature preserve Rieserferner-Ahrn, trails taking you through meadows and forests, waterfalls thundering down into the valley, alpine huts where you can take a break and enjoy cottage cheese and homemade butter after a long hike: You will find this and so much more in the Tauferer Ahrntal (Valle Aurina) – and Hotel Mair is right in the middle of it. Just a few minutes from the center of Sand in Taufers (Campo Tures), but yet in a peaceful location in Kematen (Caminata), Hotel Mair offers an opportunity to connect peace and quiet with sports and entertainment. You can take a family-friendly trail through the forest to see the near-by waterfalls of Rein in Taufers (Riva di Tures). Castle Taufers, which has overlooked the valley since the 13th century is within view. Today, it provides children with a spooky backdrop for the “Witching Hour” program.

A network of hiking and mountain bike trails runs through mountain scape of the Tauferer Ahrntal (Valle Aurina). Mountain passes are a dream come true for motorcyclists. The “Alpine Coaster” will take you down the Klausberg with breathtaking speed – it’s Italy’s longest summer toboggan run. The ecological swimming pond in Sand in Taufers (Campo Tures) and the Kneipp facilities in Weißenbach (Riobianco) offer a cool and refreshing respite.

If you want to immerse yourself in the history and culture of the Tauferer Ahrntal (Valle Aurina), you will gain many fascinating insights into the development of the territory and its people in the Nativity Scene Museum “Maranatha”, the Mining Museum “Kornkasten”, and the Nature Park House of Campo Tures and Casere. Reinhold Messner, the legendary mountaineer, has set up two museums in Pustertal’s principal town Bruneck (Brunico) – “Ripa” in Bruneck’s castle and “Corones” at the Kronplatz (Plan de Corones). In Prettau’s  Mining Museum, where copper was mined for more than 500 years, the mine train will quickly take you deep into the mountain, where the pitmen once stoped  the ore from the mountain. Since the air in the galleries is very pure, a climate tunnel was established in the Prettau’s mine, which brings great relief to people suffering from allergies and asthma.
